CLAVOILLON
In Minami-Aoyama, there was a place that was both an art gallery and an art salon. We heard it was going to close for a while, and began to think about what we could do.
It is a relatively large space in a good location — and the rent is high to match. It was never built as a restaurant, so converting it into one on a large scale would cost a considerable sum.
After much deliberation, one shape emerged.
A community space founded on the personal friends of our CEO, Takeuchi. A salon. Centered on “family & friends,” with Takeuchi himself sometimes serving guests.
In the end, it is a place made in the spirit of inviting people into your own home.
There is no stiff, formal hospitality here. Everyone who comes is welcomed as a friend. Sometimes we sit at the same table, raise a glass together, and share a good time. That is the kind of place we want it to be.
We would also like to lend the space to friends for use as a venue for exhibitions and shows.
It starts with friends. And then, friends of those friends.
Arriving without knowing the atmosphere of this community or the way we serve would surely be a disappointment for both sides. That is exactly why it is by referral only. And it opens its doors on just a few days.
It may be a somewhat unusual place. A soft atmosphere flows through a space surrounded by the art and furniture Takeuchi has collected. CLAVOILLON quietly carries on in Minami-Aoyama as just such an art & wine salon.
